[[UPDATE: Links updated, thank you Saiful for pointing that out]]

For months, it’s been a severe problem for the bulk of SharePoint Online (Office 365) customers. If you are running on Windows 7, while using the latest and greatest Internet Explorer (IE 10), you would experience problems whenever you try to map a network drive from a SharePoint Document Library.

I’ve written about this before, and even if I have a distant hope that Steve Balmer reads my blog, I’m not expecting any calls thanking me for the heads up, any time soon.

I’ve uninstalled IE10 on more PC’s that I care to count. And I’ve been trying to explain to clients that a hotfix is in the making.

The fix is here

Microsoft finally released a hotfix to get rid of the issues when you open a SharePoint Document Library in Windows Explorer or map a network drive to the library after you install Internet Explorer 10 in Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2. I’ve tested the hotfix and so far it seems to work, just perfect. So if you are stuck with Windows 7 and like using IE10, go ahead and download the hotfix. That link is somewhat unstable, so here is the direct links to the download in english.
